You may be asking:
Why is my child struggling?
Why is she out of control?
Why is he so sensitive to everyday activities?

Together we will find the answers.

Through the creative use of sensory integration-based occupational therapy we are dedicated to helping your child develop the strategies and skills they need to play, learn and grow to the fullest!

About Us

Kinder Clinic was created as a support for children’s development and those affected by delays in sensory integration, gross motor skills, fine motor skills, and social-emotional skills. The clinic is located in West Los Angeles.

We believe that a child’s occupation is to play, learn and grow. Our services are geared towards helping children live life to the fullest while fostering their ability to integrate into the world as self-assured and capable members of society. Kinder Clinic understands that a child may present with delays in a certain area, but we use a wider lens to look at the whole child in order to find the root of the concern.

Kinder Clinic uses sensory integration-based occupational therapy to help children of all ages and has successfully been supporting children and their families for over 17 years.

Courtney Duckworth-Harris

Meet
Courtney Duckworth-Harris,

MA, OTR/L.

Courtney, the new owner of Kinder Clinic, has been a registered/licensed occupational therapist in California since 2009. She is passionate about helping children through occupational therapy using a wide variety of strategies and modalities to support their development.

Courtney’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from California Lutheran University and a Masters of Arts in Occupational Therapy from the University of Southern California.

She knew from as far back as high school that she wanted to affect change in this world and occupational therapy was the way in which she was going to achieve it.

Over the years she has taken courses in Jean Ayres’ Sensory Integration, and a variety of social skills programs such as DIR/Floortime (www.icdl.com) and The Zones of Regulation (www.zonesofregulation.com). She is also well versed in the Social Thinking program (www.socialthinking.com).

Throughout her career she has gained a great deal of experience in many other areas that affect child development, including handwriting/fine motor skills, gross motor skills, praxis, executive functioning, feeding (S.O.S Approach, www.spdstar.com), and play skills.

Courtney realized there was a great need for the kind of therapy she specializes in because many children may not qualify for any of the common childhood diagnoses such as ADD and Autism, yet still struggle physically, socially, and/or academically. Due to this oversight, the children tend to slip under the radar and do not receive the services they need. That is why Kinder Clinic is here to provide a much needed service in a private, individualized setting to give these children the tools they need for success.

What We Do

At Kinder Clinic, we specialize in the assessment and treatment of children with Sensory Processing Disorder, sensory-motor concerns, developmental delays, neurological disabilities, and learning differences.

The line of services are specifically designed to improve and enrich children’s gross and fine motor skills, handwriting, sensory-motor skills, social and cognitive skills, and self-help skills. With the ultimate goal of functional independence, and a happy, confident, and capable child.

The setting has been created to provide a calming and organizing environment to ensure children feel comfortable and encouraged to explore, learn and grow. Our sensorimotor gym and fine motor/art room have been especially designed to enhance your child’s experience and make a difference where it counts the most.

A Look Inside

Book
An Assessment

If you want to have your child evaluated, here’s how it works:

Step 1

After an in-take call, an assessment will be scheduled. Assessments usually include information from parents and teachers, clinical observations, and standardized testing

Step 2

A report is then prepared that will detail treatment goals for your child.

Step 3

Your options are then discussed with you and a treatment schedule is arranged that suits both you and your child.

We usually recommend 1 - 3 treatment sessions per week for maximum support. (Each session is 50 mins in length)

You have the treatment here at the clinic.

In most cases, the child will work with the therapist alone but parents/caregivers may be involved depending on what is most therapeutic for the child.

The nature of occupational therapy makes it so that the treatment looks like play so children are motivated to participate and look forward to their weekly sessions.
