School & Home Visits and Consultations
In addition to the clinical setting, occupational therapists are effective and important in supporting children's and youth's learning and development in their respective school and home environments. Our goal at Kinder Clinic, Inc. is to maximize the child's potential and independence in multiple settings and to help them reach an optimal level of functioning at home, school, and their community. The occupational therapist's role in facilitating a child's parcicipation in activities of daily living (ADLs), education, work, play, leisure, rest and sleep, and social participation helps foster a well-rounded and meaningful lifestyle.
Our therapists can perform a comprehensive assessment of the child's school and/or home setting. We will determine if your child's school system, educational cirriculum, and teachers are supporting his/her unique abilities and disabilities by promoting occupation within the school routines (including academic achievement, and independent and social participation skills).
In the home setting, our therapists can evaluate the home to determine if it needs any modifications that ensures the chid's safety and allows them to have access to functional and positive daily activities.
Parental involvement undoubtedly plays a key role in their child's development. Therapist and parent team collaboration is vital in making certain that family members know how to best facilitate, nurture, and support desired changes in their child, such as by enhancing home involvement and parent advocacy.
