Getting Started: Initial Consultation & Evaluation
Our therapists at Kinder Clinic, Inc. provide formal consultations and evaluations using standardized assessments. An initial consultation and/or evaluation is used to evaluate the child's strengths, identify weaknesses and problem areas, and determine whether or not occupational therapy intervention is appropriate. It is also an important way of determining the desired outcomes and goals of treatment intervention and to establish a baseline prior to starting therapy treatment.
Patients are referred to us by their primary care physicians, pediatricians, neurologists, speech therapists, etc. Once they contact our office we will follow up with obtaining initial intake information about the child's diagnosis and the primary concerns for the child. New patients will then be scheduled for an initial consultation or evaluation by a therapist.
Our therapists also perform ongoing assessments, re-evaluations, and progress reports, which will show any changes or progress that have taken place during the child's course of treatment, pinpoint residual problem areas, and demonstrate when treatment goals have been met.
